Radiation Registry Update
The ACHM is nearing completion of a large scale research registry to provide outcome data regarding HBOT in Radionecrosis. The results of an interim analysis of the Radiation Research Registry (RRR) Database were presented at the UHMS Gulf Coast Chapter Meeting August 28-29, 2009, St. Pete Beach, FL, as part of the BNA research forum.
The registry project currently stands at 1962 cases from 123 facilities around the world. But we still need your help to reach our goal of 2,500 cases! Eligible cases will have started and completed treatment between January 1, 2004, and December 31, 2009. Data must be submitted by September 1, 2010. Contribute now!
Initial review of the outcomes of patients enrolled in the RRR very favorably supports the utilization of HBOT for this group of patients. All ACHM members are advised that the use of HBOT in patients with Radionecrosis is currently in jeopardy as it is currently being denied by many insurance carriers. The RRR will be the largest reported collection of clinical outcomes for patients with radiation injury treated with HBOT.
